A proposed journey

Shape of the day.

The sequence below explains the destination. Orange Sky must confirm the actual route and stops.

Enter the permitted desert

Leave the coast through the stark Namib-Naukluft landscape, using only authorized roads and access.

Look across the Moon Landscape

Pause at eroded valleys and ridges whose pale mineral forms create the area's otherworldly appearance.

Notice the small life

Lichen fields and desert-adapted organisms are easy to damage. Observation must happen from the road or approved stopping place.

Meet the Welwitschia

View this singular desert plant without touching, stepping into protected areas or assigning an age to a specific specimen without evidence.

Leave no new track

The route back should preserve crusts, plants and regulated ground; a shortcut can outlast the visit.

Questions

Before this route.

Can we walk up to a Welwitschia?

Only where current site rules and marked access allow. Never touch the plant or cross barriers.

Why must vehicles stay on roads?

Desert crusts, lichen and plant communities can be damaged by one track and recover extremely slowly.

How old are the plants?

Welwitschia can be very long-lived, but do not repeat an age for a specific plant unless the source and specimen are verified.

Are permits included?

This is not confirmed for publication. Ask Orange Sky exactly which fees and permits are included in your quote.
